Laying on of hands and anointing: for healing of mind, body and spirit is available after 10.30 worship every Sunday in the South Transept (to the right of the pulpit).  You will not be invited to say specifically why you seek this ministry, though you are welcome to do so if you wish. You are also welcome to request prayer on behalf of someone else, in addition to or instead of yourself.

Andrew is on a spiritual retreat in North Wales, 17-24 August. He would value your prayer.

Any Questions of Faith? In the Library, Union Street, on Thursday 26 August. There will be representatives of Islam, Hinduism and Christianity, each seeking to respond to questions.

Christian Healing Day at the Cathedral: the deadline has been extended. The programme is on Saturday 4 September, 10am to 4pm. Cost £10. Please book with Andrew Bradley on 0161 434 2087. Also, please inform Barbara Duxbury.

BBQ for Tearfund in Zimbabwe: fellowship was enjoyed and £200 given. Many thanks.

The Worship Committee will meet in the Vestry on Wednesday 6 September at 7.30pm.

Heritage Open Day:once again we are taking part in the national scheme. We need volunteers to show visitors around and/or make tea/coffee. Visitors are not numerous but are usually interesting, including some on the fundraising ‘Ride & Stride’ sponsorship round local churches. Saturday 11 September, hourly blocks between 10am and 4pm. We would prefer a minimum of 3 people to be present at any given time. Please sign the rota at the back.

Prom Praiseis a touring concert by the All Souls’ Orchestra, professional and skilled amateur players who are Christians linked to All Souls’ Church, Langham Place, opposite Broadcasting House, London. The programme will include both Christian and popular secular pieces. At the Bridgewater Hall, Saturday 18 September. Tickets from Box Office or 0161 907 9000.

Oldham Unity still need supermarket carrier bags and egg boxes for their free food shop for asylum-seekers.

  • Give thanks and pray for people we know in Christian service and outreach, especially all working for Word of Life outreach to Muslims in Oldham, Australia and elsewhere, for those writing, using and marking correspondence courses on the Christian faith, and for the witness of Scripture texts on calendars used throughout the year; all working for Tearfund and its partner agencies, sometimes relieving people in emergencies and always working to bring development
  • People seeking asylum: pray for David, Sobia, young Sara and baby Daniel William; Azam Shirazi.
  • Those who are unwell:give thanks for progress Alan Haslam. Continue topray for him and for Gordon Lees (due for routine surgery on 18 August), Ivy Reynolds, Joan Ainsworth, young Harry Pleasant, James Reed, Jenny Bartlett, Wendy Robinson, young Roxy Butler, Comal Sankaran, Norman and Alma Flint, Andy and Ruth Sharrock, Beatrice Howard, Grace Whetham, young Aaron Funnell, John Wrigley, Angela Taylor, Ronald Spivey, Julie Brown, Jenny Brisland, Janet Morris, Barbara Kershaw, Agnes Parry and others whom we know. Pray for all the victims of the floods in Pakistan and the fires in Russia, and all who are working to bring relief.
