Mothers' Union at St Thomas'(taken from the annual report) We have 17 members on our register with 15 or 16 attending our monthly meetings regularly., we also have two indoor members. We have had a very successful year with quite a variety of topics at our meetings:
We always enjoy a meal out at the Alpine Restaurant in the summer. The M.U. members take part in the Mothering Sunday service and provide the flowers for all the ladies present at the morning service. Another highlight of our year is the Christmas party at the end of November, followed by our Christmas Coffee Morning in December.

Recent Events Visit to Fairfield Moravian Settlement
We had great weather (i.e. it was dry, if a little cold) when 20 members and friends visited the settlement in Droylsden, about six miles from the parish. Once in the settlement it is so peaceful it is easy to forget you are in the middle of a huge urban connurbation. We were made very welcome, with a guided tour of the church and the wider village settlement. The history of the Moravian church and the settlent was explained. It was a surprise to hear that the church and many of the buildings have been there since 1785. The Moravian's have long been promotors of education and Fairfield School has evolved from the Settlement's original girls' school. If you arrange a visit you are guaranteed a friendly welcome, an interesting tour, and excellent tea and buiscuits. Don't miss the museum.
