Laying on of hands, with or without anointing and prayer for healing of spirit, emotions and body are available in the South Transept (to the right of the pulpit) immediately after 10.30am Sunday Worship, on request to any of the following: Andrew or Biddy Dawson, Kathy or Graham Lees, Alf Wild or Barbara Duxbury. If possible ask someone other than Graham or Andrew, as they are the least likely to be available. The person you approach will ask another member of the Healing Team to join you both in the South Transept for ministry.

Mavis Booth thanks everyone for their concern and their prayers. The good news is that she does not need to see her consultant again for 12 months!

The Booth Centre has expressed its thanks for our Harvest contributions for homeless people by sending a certificate, which is now posted in the porch.

Tearfund received £135 from St Thomas’ over Harvest – many thanks!

A Service for Lives Cut Short: names are read out, candles lit and prayers said in memory of those whom we love but see no more. Ring Sheila Hannam-Andrews on 0161 330 8728 if you want a particular name to be read out. Friday 21 October, 7.30pm at the Cathedral.

“The Word Revealed”: a service to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the KJV. Andrew has a few spare free tickets. Sunday 23 October, 3pm at the Cathedral.

Werneth Partners and Community Together (PACT): all are welcome to talk about local issues with Ward Councillors, Police and others. Thursday 27 October, 6.30 to 8.30pm at Christ Church on Block Lane. Also note: Werneth Together Clean-up, 22 – 28 October – details to follow.

 ‘Two Sisters and a Funeral’: a new musical by Roger Jones. A re-telling of the Easter event seen through the eyes of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Tickets: adults £5, under-18s £2. Saturday 29 October, 7.30pm at All Saints & Martyrs Church, Langley, Middleton. Details on red sheets at the back.

Walk through the Old Testament: discover how the pieces fit together. Mills Hill Baptist Church on Saturday 12 November, 9.30am to 5pm. Book through Andrew.

Caring for the Carers is the theme of the Diocesan Healing Roadshow. Choose 3 seminars from the following: Care for the Dying, Being a Carer, Care for the Mentally Ill, Care for the Elderly, Care for Victims of Sexual Trauma. Book through Andrew. £10 charge. Saturday 12 November, 9.30am to 1pm at St Martin’s, Droylsden.

Word of Life UK: thanksgiving for Phil Rawlings, Chair; Gill Gosling, Liaison Officer (contract extended for a further 6 months); people baptised after Bible Correspondence Course; Peter Smithers’ improved health. Pray for further funding for Liaison Officer, revision of outreach and teaching materials, and website.

  • Refugees and people seeking asylum: Give thanks that Andy and Azam have refugee status. Pray for them as they change their income and housing arrangements. Pray for others still seeking asylum: David, Sobia, young Sara and Daniel William; Hawani; Maryam; Alireza; Azra; Nilou; Mahtab; Ali; Shabnam; Hooman; Masood; Afsana; Marzia and baby Danny; Haleh; Mohammed; those taking part in Baptism Preparation and/or home group on St Mark; Oldham Unity business meeting on Monday
  • Those who are unwell: give thanks for progress in Joan Finlayson and Mavis Booth. Continue to pray for them, and for Ivy Reynolds, young Harry Pleasant, Jenny Bartlett, Comal Sankaran, Norman and Alma Flint, Andy and Ruth Sharrock, Beatrice Howard, young Aaron Funnell, Raymond Scott, Alan Broome, Enid Gregson, Dinah McLeod, Ron Spivey, Helen Savage, Tom Parkinson, the victims of famine in East Africa, and others whom we know.
  • The bereaved: in particular the families and friends of David Barnett, Jack Greenhalgh and those who have died of starvation in East Africa.
