Fabric and Finance Committee:the next meeting date has been changed from 13 to 18 July, at 7.30pm in the Vicarage.

Retiring collectiontowards Oldham Unity for Refugee Support today. Currently there are on average over 50 Refused Asylum-seekers applying for £6.50 worth of food every week. This is twice as many as last year. It seems to be more difficult for Refused Asylum-seekers to be re-awarded Home Office funding, even if they are submitting a fresh claim. The support project now costs an average of £1400 per month, and it attracts few grants. More details in a leaflet at the back. There are two probable reasons why the number seeking food has increased – the first is that another centre in Greater Manchester has closed, and the second is that the Home Office is supporting fewer of those who are making a fresh claim for asylum with new evidence.

2012 Manchester Flower Festival:to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of HM the Queen and the Olympic Games. The Cathedral is taking part, and the Dean invites flower arrangers to contribute. Please read the Dean’s letter with application form at the back, and consult with Mary Fairhurst.

Holiday Club:the first meeting for all team members is at 7.30pm on Monday 11 July, at 69 Northgate. We could use one or two more helpers, in particular to run the tuckshop. Guidance is given. Club runs from 25 to 29 July, mornings only (9 to 12).
