Holiday Club: this year’s was last week, and the theme was Superheroes of the Old Testament – Joshua, Gideon, David and Esther. We enjoyed drama, games, crafts, baking, telling jokes, painting and giving a presentation to the parents. Over 40 children took part, most of whom are pupils at our school. Many thanks to Graham and Kathy Lees for spoonfeeding the 9 full-time and 7 part-time team members. And many thanks to them as well. Pray that the club has a lasting effect on the children.

Warning: cash and cards were stolen from one of us last Sunday, immediately after worship. We do not think the thief was a regular worshipper. The police have been informed. We advise everyone to keep an eye on purses and wallets, and do not leave them unattended even when receiving Communion.

Is God asking you to pray for Muslims? One way is to pray through the 30 days of Ramadan, this year on 1-30 August. Booklets at the back, giving thoughts.

“We are Muslim, please” by Zaiba Malik, reviewed by Andrew in the August parish magazine, can be borrowed from him.

An Iranian male asylum-seeker who worships at St Thomas’, loses his Home Office accommodation on Thursday. He needs a bedroom and access to a kitchen while he pursues his appeal. He will receive food from Oldham Unity. Further information from Andrew and Biddy.

‘Churchwatch’ is free training by the diocese, covering personal safety, reducing the risk of crime, etc. Leaflet at the back. Christ Church, Chadderton, on Monday 3 October, 7.30 to 9.30pm. Apply to Andrew by Sunday 7 August.
