Laying on of hands, with or without anointing and prayer for healing of spirit, emotions and body are available in the South Transept (to the right of the pulpit) immediately after 10.30am Sunday Worship, on request to any of the following: Andrew or Biddy Dawson, Kathy or Graham Lees, Alf Wild or Barbara Duxbury. If possible ask someone other than Graham or Andrew, as they are the least likely to be available. The person you approach will ask another member of the Healing Team to join you both in the South Transept for ministry.

Oldham Anglican Interfaith Officer has been appointed by the Bishop of Manchester, following the request of Oldham East and Oldham West Deanery Synod. It is a 0.5 post. He is the Revd Canon Phil Rawlings, until recently Rector of St Bride’s, Old Trafford. He will be licensed at Oldham Parish Church on Thursday 13 October at 7.30pm. All will be welcome.

‘The Word Revealed’: worship to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible poster at the back. Book free tickets by 9 October on the clipboard (if you have already booked, no need to book again). Event is on Sunday 23 October, at 3pm in the Cathedral.

‘A Reet Good Neet’ featuring ‘Hindle Wakes’ with Lancashire, Irish and sing-along songs and 60s music. Tickets £5 including potato pie supper from Ron Vickers. Friday 28 October at Werneth Golf Club. Proceeds in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.

‘Two sisters and a Funeral’: a new musical by Roger Jones. A re-telling of the Easter event seen through the eyes of May, Martha and Lazarus. Tickets: adults £5, under-18s £2. Saturday 29 October, 7.30pm at All Saints & Martyrs Church, Langley, Middleton. Details on red sheets at the back.

Metal thefts are increasing, in Oldham as elsewhere. It has been attempted at St Thomas, so far without success, but successfully at St Paul’s. This creates victims of crime throughout the borough, as well as income for drug-users, and makes life difficult for decent people who make a genuine living from scrap metal. If you see people going door-to-door for scrap metal, or removing it from roofs, ring the police on 872 5050.

Most Oldhamers originating from Pakistan come from Mirpur district in the east of the country – see map at the west end of the north aisle, by the bookstall.

Stand-alone word processor available free - it may work!

St Thomas’ income not meeting running costs: copies of this article in the September magazine are beside the August magazine.

‘I love Laos’: a full-colour prayer guide for this south-east Asian country, for which we in St Thomas’ have a special concern. Copies at the back.
