Holiday Club:the first meeting for all team members is at 7.30pm this Monday 11 July, at 69 Northgate. We could use one or two more helpers, in particular to run the tuckshop. Guidance is given. Club runs from 25 to 29 July, mornings only (9 to 12).

The Altar Cross is back where it belongs after a long time away because of negotiations over its repair, which in the end will be paid by insurance. If carrying it, please place one hand under the base and the other on the cross itself.

“Religion and Mathematics”:a talk by Prof. George Joseph, author of  “The Crest of the Peacock: non-European Roots of Mathematics”. Hosted by Oldham Interfaith Forum, at the Indian Association, Schofield Street. Tuesday 12 July, at 7.30pm.

Werneth Neighbourhood Agreement: neighbourhood agreements are a recent initiative elsewhere in the UK, and have been in place in Hathershaw and Fitton Hill for a year or two. In a sentence, it is an agreement between residents and the Council, Police, Housing Providers etc. All promise to work together. An introductory meeting will be held in our school on Monday 18 July, 6-8pm.

2012 Manchester Flower Festival:to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of HM the Queen and the Olympic Games. The Cathedral is taking part, and the Dean invites flower arrangers to contribute. Please read the Dean’s letter with application form at the back, and consult with Mary Fairhurst.

Marta Yakobwho lived for some months at the Vicarage in 2009, has given birth to Joshua in Canada where she lives with her husband. She starts training as a nurse in September. She praises God and sends her love.

   THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER REQUESTS  

 

  • Give thanks and pray for the opportunities of the holiday club – prep meeting on Monday
  • Pray for the Deanery Synod meeting about stewardship – on Thursday
  • People connected with our church engaged in outreach at home and abroad:especially all working for Word of Life in outreach to Muslims in Oldham, Australia and elsewhere; for those writing, using and marking correspondence courses on the Christian Faith; for the witness of Scripture texts on calendars used throughout the year
  • People seeking asylum: give thanks that Azam has 5 years Leave to Remain, and pray for her as she adjusts to her new situation. Pray for David, Sobia, young Sara and Daniel William; Hawani; Maryam; Alireza; Azra;Nader; Nilou; Mahtab; Syed Ali; Shabnam; Hooman; Masood; Afsana. Pray for them all as they take part in baptism preparation and/or Bible study.
