Laying on of hands and anointing: for healing of mind, body and spirit is available after 10.30 worship every Sunday in the South Transept (to the right of the pulpit).  You will not be invited to say specifically why you seek this ministry, though you are welcome to do so if you wish. You are also welcome to request prayer on behalf of someone else, in addition to or instead of yourself.

LENT OPPORTUNITIES:

Deeper prayer:more frequent worship, and personal prayer – Andrew can recommend booklets.

More thinking:with booklet ‘A Passion for Life’ either on your own or at groups (Monday afternoons at the Vicarage 1.15 – 2.45, or Tuesday evenings at 204 Frederick Street 8 - 9.30)

Self-denial and financial giving: one destination could be Oldham Unity’s legal fund. There are not enough Legal Aid asylum lawyers, and the majority of these are in London, while most asylum-seekers are in the North. So Oldham Unity wants to buy initial opinions from a private asylum lawyer at approx £250 each, to establish whether a client has any case. If so, a Legal Aid firm will save time in deciding whether to take cases. Alternatively, clients are given money to travel to a London lawyer. There will be a retiring collection during Lent.

Green wheelie bin delivered to St Thomas’ uninvited. Anyone want a spareone? If so please see May or Graham.

stthomaswerneth.co.uk:our website had an increase of visits from approx 300 in October to 400 in January. Congratulations to our webmaster Tony Kane, and all those who have given him digital photos. Please read Tony’s sheet (green) at the back listing requirements to improve the site.

Did you enjoy chair-based exercise?Other ideas are in the Oldham Community Health Services leaflet ‘Information and Events’ available at the back.

Fairtrade Fortnightstarts on 22 February. The challenge this year is to look for Fairtrade alternatives to your usual supermarket purchases including cottonwool balls, beers, wines and flowers. The slight increase in price hides a fair price for the producers and a say in how they work.

Huddersfield Asian Christians invite us to their Easter Party with raffle, entertainment and food. £10 in aid of roof repair at St Cuthbert’s. Wednesday 7 April at 6.30pm. Lifts available. Apply to Nasreen Masih 682 3222.

Rochdale Archdeaconry Healing Quiet Morningwith Bishop Chris of Bolton. Saturday 6 March from 9.30 – 1pm at Langley, Middleton. £5. Book on the clipboard, deadline is 28 February.

Workshops:Understanding Conflict on 6 March or Myers Briggs on 16 March at Levenshulme. Details in porch and application form from Andrew.

‘The Narrow Road’:Riding Lights Christian Theatre Company’s Passion Play at the Cathedral on Sunday 14 March, 7pm. Details in February Crux inside parish magazine, p7.

Easter experience:please would last year’s builders re-assemble their tableaux between 22 and 27 March?
