St Thomas, Werneth

The refurbishment of St. Thomas' Church is nearly complete - with new underfloor heating; kitchen; toilets; and entrance ramp. It will be a stunning, Grade II listed venue, available to the community.

However, please note that the building has only been redecorated up to about 10m. And one or two sections have no plaster. It is likely to take a couple of years for all this work to be completed.

The venue is now available to hire by community groups. However there are certain ground rules that need to be followed:

  • No alcohol is to be consumed by third party groups hiring the premises.
  • The building is still a church. We are not permitted by law to allow any act of worship other than a Christian one to take place in St. Thomas' Church.
  • The kitchen is primarily for community activities: healthy eating and cooking courses. It is not a commercial kitchen. Food must cooked off-site and then delivered to the church. Please note that the kitchen has an induction hob. Therefore proper induction pots and pans must be used.
  • The building must be left as you found it.
  • THE FLOOR: the floor must not be allowed to get wet. Also please be aware that strong stains and dyes should be used with extreme care! Things should not be dragged across the floor but lifted.
  • You can find a list of regular activities, and a calendar of bookings, below. These are times that the venue is NOT available for booking
  • The charge per session of up to three hours will be £50.
  • No balloons, posters, streamers, etc are to be attached to the walls or the woodwork.
